Tips and Tricks to Improve Your Kid’s Concentration

Making a child focus on one thing or sit and do their homework without getting constantly distracted is one of the struggles every parent has. Before we head into this there is something you should know. Children are wired differently and are distracted easily and has a less focus span than adults. However, with certain trick we can make them focus on thing more and keep the concentration for loner periods of time.

Here we are going to look into some of those tips and tricks you could use if you want your child to improve their concentration and focus skills.

Use focus games to increase attention

I have mentioned earlier in many of my articles that children tend to learn more through play, making these games and activities more fun will help them focus more.

One of the tips is to get them away from gadgets, tablets and computers and encourage them to play with regular toys. For example, a child building something using blocks has a less chance of getting distracted. Research has shown that gadgets and digital games do decrease the focusing ability and attention span of the children. I have previously discussed some indoor games that could be of help to increase the child’s concentration.

Create a distraction-free environment

This depends on what your child prefers comforting. Some children tend to do well in an environment that is calm and soothing while others may go for environments with a lot going on around them. The first step of creating the perfect environment where they can keep their focus starts with understanding their preferences.

A healthy green diet

Your child’s diet and their ability to concentrate has a direct link. While there are many foods that help the child with this there are some that you should avoid. While eating foods rich in proteins and a lot of greens helps the kid grow this ability, junk and sugary foods goes against this and makes the child rather sluggish.

An interesting study in the University of Ulster, UK shows that eating toast and baked beans for breakfast increases cognition. Hence, many experts agree that eating greens boosts the child’s body with antioxidants which in turn increases the concentration.

Understand your child’s preferred learning method

Every child is different in their own ways, like the environment they thrive in every child have a way or method that is easier and more effective for them to learn from. Some children prefer listening while others get more from visuals or practical methods of learning.

It is very important that you as a parent to know what your child’s learning method is and to create their learning experience around that method. This will increase concentration and will surely bring out the best of their skills.
