10 Innovative Indoor Games For Kids
Easier and more effective games are always the best treat for any parent who is going around their heads thinking of new ways to keep their kids busy. These games are innovative and curated to be practiced and enjoyed through many skills and ways while being inside your homes. These games could be essential as most of us are still spending more time at our homes due to the pandemic.
Before we go into the games, you should note that some items used in the games might not be at your homes. Rather than skipping the game, take it as an advantage and ask your kids how you could still do it, what cane replace the missing items, let their creative sides do some work, be innovative. Some requires their minds to do the work while others are more physically based games, both can be enjoyed.
- Not Three of a Kind
One person have to name 03 similar objects and other players have to figure out how one of them does not fit in the group. Let’s say the list goes like, banana, lemon, avocado. Both bananas are yellow fruits, pointing out avocado as the odd one out.
- Paper Cup Stacking
Perfect way to use those paper cups that you have been recycling, make your kids challenge on how high they can go. To make it more fun, turn it into a little competition and see them bring the best they have. If you are thinking what I am thing then yes, if the kids are old enough you could use a deck of cards and get involved too.
- Paper Plate Toss
First you need a paper towel roll or any cylinder like object tapped to the floor. Now make circles in paper plates regardless of the size and let the stacking begin. Set a timer and see how many one can get done in the set time or who can get the most, always more fun when there’s a challenge.
- Obstacle Course
What you need? Crepe paper and a hallway. Zig the crepe papers across from one wall of the hallway to the other low, high and across. Ask your kids to move their way out without breaking the paper.
- Ping Pong Ball Toss
Paper tubes of different heights should be used to prep this game, tape them to the floor or you could make your own game board for this if you hot glue them to a cardboard box. Use foils to cover the opening and press a ping pong ball on top of each so the foil is curved to place the ball. Toss and see who can get the most done.
- Find That Thing
Usually done outdoors, this game can be also done inside your home. The larger the number of items you have around in your home the better. If you still want that outdoor feeling the game can be improvised if you have a balcony or a window.
Basically, you will be mentioning an object to your kids in their surroundings, the kid then has to find out and point out the object. This game raises the awareness of the child to their surroundings and their skill of observation.
- Quick Math Game
Use paper tubes and a cardboard sheet to stick them and label each with numbers from 1 to let’s say 5. Write equations using addition and subtraction that would result in one of those numbers as the answers. Ask your kid to place them inside the tube that they think is the answer, challenge them to get more right in a set time or than the other.
- Car Tracks
Use tape to mark different lines which can be used as tracks or streets for the toy cars your kids have, now with the tracks they can have more fun. You can be more creative and create a little track on a cardboard, maybe if you can add some surroundings.
- Car Ramp
Yes, more about cars. Use a big paper tube and slide cars down to the ground. Sounds too simple right? But trust me this keeps kids engaged for a good amount of time and if they start getting bored of cars, get small toys, dinosaurs, anything and throw them down a ramp.
- Blower Race
The tube we used for the ramp, yes, get two of those and tape them horizontally on the ground. Place a ball in each and give the kids straws to blow at them and let them challenge each other to come out as the winner.
Always remember if you are challenging your kids for something to reward them and to encourage them to do better, this builds up their competitiveness and focus when they grow up into the real world.
